peritoneal exudate
A term most commonly used to describe the fluid drained from the peritoneal cavity some time after the injection of an irritant solution. For example: a standard method for obtaining neutrophil leucocytes is to inject intraperitoneally saline with glycogen (to activate complement) and drain off the leucocyte rich peritoneal exudate some hours later.
