A carbamate insecticide, fenoxycarb blocks the ability of an insect to undergo metamorphosis (i.e. to change from the juvenile stage into an adult). It also interferes with the molting of larvae. It has a low toxicity for bees, birds, and humans, but is toxic to fish.
