ChEBI Name glycoinositol phospholipid
ChEBI ID CHEBI:59682
Definition Glycoinositol phospholipids (GIPLs) are abundant components of protozoa of the genus Leishmania. An identical core glycan is found in all cases, consisting of ethanolamine phosphate, three mannose residues and non-acetylated glucosamine linked to inositol. GIPLs anchor proteins expressed on the surface of essentially all eukaryotic cells and may endow such proteins with unusual properties.
