DISAMBIGUATION: The term ovariole is sometimes incorrectly used to refer to individual egg chambers. Please use the term 'egg chamber' for this.
An egg assembly line. Consists of a germarium at the anterior tip connected to a chain of egg chambers, each one more mature than the preceding, more anterior egg chamber in the chain. Each ovariole is encased in an ovarian sheath. A typical ovary contains about 16 ovarioles.
