Name
protein-exporting ATPase activity
Ontology
molecular_function
Synonyms
ATPase-coupled protein transporter activity
Alternate IDs
None
Definition
Enables the transfer of a solute or solutes from one side of a membrane to the other according to the reaction: ATP + H2O + protein+(in) -> ADP + phosphate + protein+(out); drives the concomitant secretion of proteins. Source: PMID:30346996
Comment
Represents ATP- hydrolyzing enzymes of the general secretory pathway (Sec or Type II), of the virulence-related secretory pathway (Type III) and of the conjugal DNA-protein transfer pathway (Type IV). Type II enzymes occur in bacteria, archaea and eukaryotes, whereas type III and type IV enzymes occur in bacteria where they form components of a multi-subunit complex.
