Name
silicic acid import across plasma membrane
Ontology
biological_process
Synonyms
silicic acid transport, silicic acid import, silicon uptake, silicate transport
Alternate IDs
GO:1902067, GO:0051207
Definition
The directed movement of silicates from outside of a cell, across the plasma membrane and into the cytosol. Silicates are the salts of silicic acids, and are usually composed of silicon and oxygen (Si[x]O[y]), one or more metals, and possibly hydrogen. Types of silicate include unisilicates, metasilicates and hydrous silicates. Source: GOC:krc, PMID:16572174, GOC:ai
