Accession
GO:0036222
Name
XTP diphosphatase activity
Ontology
molecular_function
Synonyms
XTP pyrophosphohydrolase activity, XTPase activity, XTP/dITP diphosphatase, hypoxanthine/xanthine dNTP pyrophosphatase
Alternate IDs
GO:0103024
Definition
Catalysis of the reaction: XTP + H2O = XMP + H+ + diphosphate. Source: PMID:16216582, PMID:22531138, RHEA:28610, GOC:pz
Comment
While XTP is not produced by cells, deamination of purine bases can result in accumulation of such nucleotides as ITP, dITP, XTP, and dXTP. XTPase contributes to the removal of these abnormal bases from the cellular pool of nucleotide triphosphates.
