Accession
GO:0042275
Name
error-free postreplication DNA repair
Ontology
biological_process
Synonyms
error-free PRR, error-free replication restart
Alternate IDs
None
Definition
The conversion of DNA-damage induced single-stranded gaps into large molecular weight DNA via processes such as template switching, which does not remove the replication-blocking lesions but does not increase the endogenous mutation rate. Source: PMID:11459630, GOC:jl, GOC:elh
Comment
Note that 'error-free' does not mean that literally zero errors occur during DNA synthesis, but that the error rate is low, comparable to that of DNA synthesis during replication.
