Definition
An siRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing pathway that blocks the translation of target mRNAs into proteins. Once incorporated into a RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC), an siRNA will typically mediate repression of translation if the siRNA perfectly complements elements located in the 3' untranslated region of target mRNAs.
