Definition
A transmembrane protein complex located in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) involved in the correct folding of multipass membrane proteins in the ER membrane. In human, the substrate-binding Asterix (PAT10, WDR83OS) forms an obligate heterodimer with CCDC47. Source: PMID:33082068, PMID:32814900, PMID:33960686
Comment
PAT complex functions by shielding exposed hydrophilicity of transmembrane domains (TMDs) to prevent premature degradation and promote proper folding and bundling of TMDs.
